Earlier, we wrote about the top 10 trending searches in gadgets and devices of 2021 by Malaysians on Google. But that's not the only thing that we all searched on Google, as there are another couple of complete lists in various categories. Read on below to find out more about it!
The movement restriction has made a big impact on businesses and families. 'i-Sinar' takes the first spot as the trending term of 2021. Alongside ‘i-Citra’, ‘Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat’, ‘i-Akaun’ and ‘Bantuan Prihatin Nasional’, most of the top searches are based on financial aid and incentives as the Malaysia economy is trying to revive.
Of course, COVID-19 is still one of the top searches but with a different focus. Malaysians this year were searching towards vaccinations and resuming business operations with the top trending terms for this category - ‘CIMS 3.0’, ‘COVID Vaccine Near Me', and ‘COVID-19 Malaysia’. We also learn more about different vaccines and the impact, as reflected in ‘Semakan Vaksin’ ‘AstraZeneca Vaccine’, ‘COVIDNOW’, and ‘Sinovac Vaccine’.
Besides that, there is also a good chunk of entertainment searches on Google. This includes ‘Euro 2021’, ‘Popcat’, ‘English Premier League’, and ‘Squid Game’. Malaysians were also super patriotic in searching ‘Lee Zii Jia’ and ‘Azizulhasni Awang’, as well as knowing more about ‘Christian Eriksen’s momentary collapse during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland and Britain’s ‘Tom Daley’ knitting in between diving events at the Tokyo Olympics.
As we spent more than half of the year staying at home, digital learning became one of the top searches as well. ‘Google Meet’ makes it onto the list at the seventh place (overall) as video conferencing has become part of our daily lives. Also trending this year is 'Google Classroom', ‘DELIMa KPM’, ‘Blooket’, ‘Wordwall’, and ClassPoint’.
