Meta is preparing to reveal a new VR headset in October, as confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg himself. The source suspects it could be at the annual Connect event, which also took place in October last year.

The information got revealed on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Although Zuckerberg didn't specifically mention the headset's name, the descriptions he made aligned with the reports about the headset codenamed "Project Cambria".

Inside the report by The Information, Reality Labs employees described the new headset as a "laptop for the face" or "Chromebook for the face." It will reportedly have outward-facing cameras enabling mixed-reality experiences. Furthermore, the publication said back then that it would have the capability to allow users' avatars in the metaverse to mirror their expressions and to show where they're looking in real life. Zuckerberg has confirmed those features on the podcast by mentioning that the headset indeed allows eye contact in virtual reality and that it will be able to translate users' expressions in real time to their avatars, whether they're smiling, frowning or pouting.

Although there was nothing shared regarding the price, the source suggests that it could be more expensive than the Quest 2 by exceeding 1000 USD (~RM4,468), which got a price hike back in August. Stay tuned to TechNave.com for more tech news.
