In another aggressive push of their 4G LTE services, Maxis recently announced that they were expanding their LTE network onward and outward from the Klang Valley. These areas incude Penang and Johor Bharu. According to Maxis Joint Chief Operating Officer Mark Dioguardi, Maxis will offer their LTE services in Penang and Johor Bharu in Q3 of 2013. This means said areas will most likely get it sometime between July and September.
Celcom have also indicated that they will deploy their own LTE network in those areas by the middle of 2013. Considering that Celcom have yet to offer any LTE coverage even to the Klang Valley we can only assume that it has been postponed or they're going to do a mass roll-out of Celcom LTE services for all of these areas in one big swoop. This may mean some competition for Maxis then but its all good for the consumer as more competition just means lower prices and better deals for the rest of us.
