Since last November, Maxis and Gamuda signed an agreement in the provision and deployment of network infrastructure and services for twentyfive.7. This time around, both parties did another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Maxis is to provide and deploy 5G network infrastructure and services in Gamuda Cove, which will eventually be the first 5G township when it's ready in the country.

The term “smart city” has garnered a lot of attraction with 5G development, but can Gamuda Cove really become one? Well, according to Ngan Chee Meng, CEO of Gamuda Land, stated that the blueprint will need to be flexible to adopt the new technology and is confident of Maxis' expertise in network infrastructure and services. Once available, the connectivity can potentially go up to 10x higher than what the 4G network can do, as well as access to the Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and devices, autonomous vehicles as well as robotic applications.

Gamuda Cove is currently under development in the Southern Klang Valley, along the Elite Highway and opposite Cyberjaya with proximity to KLIA and KLIA2. The area is approximately 1530 acres, surrounded by woodlands and waterside meadows, even a 60-acre pet-friendly central park with interconnected lakes.
