If you're a big fan of Maxis, chances are that you may have heard about Maxis eKelas programme. Well, just today (23 November 2018) the telco company has just launched a new eCikgu feature for the eKelas portal. In conjunction with the closing ceremony of the eKelas Holiday Camp 2018, Yang Berhormat Tuan Eddin Syazlee Shith, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, who launched eCikgu was present at the event at Menara Maxis today.

As the name implies, this feature allows students to connect with teachers via a chat forum, making digital learning even more interactive for rural communities in Malaysia. To put it simply, it serves as a live tutorial in a chat forum and students can type questions related to the topic and teachers can immediately provide answers on the spot where a lesson is ongoing.

To briefly recap what eKelas is all about, it's an after-school digital learning initiative by Maxis to help rural communities focusing on Science, Mathematics and English for Form 1, 2 and 3 students, and a new expansion to Primary 6, Form 4 and Form 5. This was made possible with the partnership with MCMC and there are currently 55 Community Broadband Centres (CBCs) across 10 states with over 6000 students participating.

Also present at the event were YM Raja Tan Sri Dato' Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, Maxis' Chairman; Robert Nason, Maxis' CEO; YBhg Dato' Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus, Chief Officer, Communications and Digital Ecosystem Sector, Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC); and Gokhan Ogut, Maxis' Chief Operating Officer.
