Maxis today launched their MaxisONE Kid postpaid plan so that kids can keep in touch with parents for RM58 a month, complete with unlimited calls, SMS and Data. According to Maxis the ages of 10 and below are too young to own a phone, so they've paired the plan with their MaxisONE Kid Watch (based on the QQ Watch) which is equipped with GPS, can take pictures (remotely if necessary), set geo-location based electronic fences and more. The MaxisONE Kid bundle requires you to sign up for a 12 month contract after which you'll own the watch and continue paying RM58 a month.

The MaxisONE Kid watch and Adult companion app

Unlike the original QQ Watch, the MaxisOne Kid Watch does not have the WeChat features enabled. However, it still offers smart tracking via the GPS and companion Adult app. You can still take pictures and listen in remotely with the watch. Your child can make calls but due to the small screen, they can only receive messages. They also have a one touch SOS call function and you can make unlimited calls to 10 numbers on any network. The app also allows you to set other guardians so you can link in other family members or teachers. Check out the MaxisONE Kid site for more details.
