Maybank has announced an update to the contactless transaction process for all Maybank Cards used with Google Pay, effective 27 January 2026. So, what should you know about it?
Increased limit for cashless transactions
For your information, you will no longer be required to enter your card PIN for purchases exceeding RM250. However, Maybank has set a maximum limit of RM2500 for each contactless transaction using Google Pay. For any transaction exceeding this amount, you will still need to use your physical card as usual.

According to Maybank, credit card holders can continue to make various contactless transactions up to their respective credit card limits, provided that each transaction does not exceed RM2500. For debit card users, each Google Pay contactless transaction is also capped at RM2500 and is subject to the daily purchase limit set by the user.
For added security, debit cardholders have the option to lower their Google Pay transaction limit below RM2500 by adjusting their debit card purchase limit via the Maybank2u platform.
