MediaTek has announced its latest mobile processor for mid-range smartphones, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200. Focusing on gaming and photography, the SoC features MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 for better power efficiency and the “flagship-grade” 4nm chip technology.

Specifically, the chip is built by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) with its N4P process, the same as the Dimensity 9200 series. According to MediaTek’s official website, the Dimensity 7200 sports two Cortex-A715 cores with a 2.8GHz high frequency and six Cortex-A510 cores.

In terms of GPU, the SoC utilises the Mali G610 MC4 for visual processing. Among others, the chipset is capable of powering Full HD displays of up to 144Hz, HDR10+, CUVA HDR and Dolby HDR.

The chipset also has APU for AI-powered camera enhancement like Real-Time Portrait Beautification. Speaking of cameras, the processor has improved imaging capabilities, including a 14-bit HDR ISP with 4K HDR video capture support, up to 200MP main camera support and simultaneous capturing of two video streams.

Other notable features include support for 5G sub-6GHz, 2CC Carrier Aggregation, Dual SIM 5G, triband WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. Consumers can expect Dimensity 7200 to be powering mid-range smartphones in the first quarter of this year, though no smartphone manufacturer has announced a device powered by this SoC just yet.
