Around the same time last year, MediaTek unveiled the performance of its not-debuted-yet Dimensity 9000 chip by posting the first 1 million points result scored on AnTuTu. This year, it follows the same promoting strategy for the upcoming successor, Dimensity 9200. The result proves that the chip is worthy of powering future flagships.
The Dimensity 9200 hits the 1.26 million benchmark on the same platform, promising a fairly impressive 26% generational improvement. It's worth mentioning that MediaTek launched an enhanced version of the Dimensity 9000 and called it 9000+. Compared to it, the Dimensity 9200 brings a 5% boost in CPU and 10% in GPU performance. However, the point breakdown reveals that the CPU score of the new chip is on par with the 9000 chips. Especially the temperature graph, which shows that the chip doesn't bump up that much.
Despite that, the GPU impresses with a 550k benchmark score, above the ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate with the 9000+ could achieve, which reached around 430k. Rumour also suggests that MediaTek is using ARM's latest Immortalis-G715. It will bring hardware support for ray tracing and promises a 15% performance uplift in graphics rendering over the G710.
It's unknown which smartphone the company tested with and what settings it used. We can't wait to find out about that, and you may stay tuned to TechNave.com to know more if you're curious too!
