Previously, we shared how the vivo X200 series will reportedly be the first smartphone to feature the next-gen MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. Now, more info about the SoC itself has been tipped, courtesy of reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

According to GSMArena which sourced the tipster, the Dimensity 9400 SoC is expected to launch sometime in Q4 2024. Furthermore, the processor will have the model number “MT6991” and will use TSMC’s 2nd-generation 3nm N3E node.

The latter makes the chipset have up to 34 per cent lower power consumption compared to its predecessor. However, the all-big core structure will remain the same, with a Cortex-X5 performance core currently tested at a 3.4 GHz frequency.

The frequency may be increased though when it’s closer to launch, with the main core touted to be joined by 3x Cortex-X4 cores and 4x Cortex-A720 units. Of course, do take this with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.
