It looks like MediaTek is not resting on its laurels in its battle for mobile processor supremacy with Qualcomm and Apple. In fact, the company is expected to announce its next-gen SoC soon, the Dimensity 9400, which will feature ARM’s new CPU ‘BlackHawk’ architecture.

According to Android Headlines which sourced reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the partnership between MediaTek and ARM is set to bring about a substantial increase in performance. Furthermore, the Dimensity 9400 will be a 3nm chipset and will incorporate ARM’s BlackHawk architecture.

Moreover, the next-gen SoC is also rumoured to forego efficiency cores for more power. It’s even claimed to have superior Instructions Per Clock (IPC) compared to the Apple A17 Pro SoC and Qualcomm Nuvia.

The Dimensity 9400 is expected to feature a Cortex-X5 Prime CPU core, 4 Cortex-X4 Prime CPU cores and 4 Cortex-A720 performance CPU cores. Rumours also point to a Q4 2024 release.
