When it comes to smartphone chipsets, MediaTek does not get the same recognition as Qualcomm by the fans, even though the former has improved over the years (and nobody listens). To provide future smartphone brands with good stuff, MediaTek has just recently announced a two new gaming-centric SoCs - the Helio G90 and G90T.

As advertised by MediaTek, the "G" stands for Gaming and they are pretty serious about it. Inside the SoC architecture, the G series features an octa-core combination of 2x Arm Cortex-A76 cores and 6x Cortex-A55s cores but oddly, built on a 12nm FinFET process. Nonetheless, it can be clocked up to 2.05GHz, support up to 10GB LPDDR4X RAM and accompanied by a Mali-G76 GPU.

According to the video, one of the featured highlights is the HyperEngine game technology and HDR10 support which is said to improve the "ultimate" gaming experience and make the game graphics look different compared to another chipset (presumably Qualcomm, because that's the closest competitor), as well as able to keep the player online with a stronger signal strength and dual WiFi connectivity, which can connect to two routers at the same time.

With a bold claim of being the "ultimate champion of mobile gaming", they do have some merits in terms of the performance score. According to AnTuTu, the MediaTek G90 scores 222,282 points based on CPU, GPU, UX and memory performance, which is higher than the Snapdragon 730 on the Xiaomi Mi 9T with 211915 points.

Speaking of Xiaomi, the next Xiaomi device will have a new phone featuring a Helio G90 chipset in India soon. Until then, stay tuned for more tech news at TechNave.com.
