MediaTek has unveiled two new 5nm Dimensity 8000 series chips, namely Dimensity 8000 and 8100. Despite having a similar architecture, the Dimensity 8100 comes with a few better advantages. Now, let's read on to find out what they offer for the next-gen mid-range smartphones.

Both chips feature four Cortex-A78 big CPU cores and four A55 little ones. The GPU used is Mali-G610 MC6, which utilizes ARM's latest GPU architecture. However, the Dimensity 8100 will offer a 20% higher GPU frequency than the 8000. According to testing shown by MediaTek, the 8100 achieves 170 fps in GFXBench Manhattan (offscreen) while the 8000 only hits 140 fps.

Furthermore, they also feature MiraVision 780 with support for a 168Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. Here, the 8100 does better by being able to support 120Hz at WQHD+. Besides that, both have the 4K AV1 video decoders and support for HDR10+ Adaptive (adjusting HDR10+ content to ambient light conditions). Other features include Imagiq 780 ISP that handles up to 5 gigapixels per second and up to 200MP sensors, 5G modems, Wi-Fi 6E (2x2) support, Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth LE Audio with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio, and BeiDou's new B1C frequency for positioning.

After the announcement, realme has also confirmed that the upcoming realme GT Neo3 will be one of the first smartphones to get powered by the Dimensity 8100. Therefore, it should be not long for us to experience the performance of the chips. Stay tuned to TechNave.com for the latest tech report.
