MediaTek has come back with two mid-range chips, Dimensity 1050 and Dimensity 930. The semiconductor company accounted for almost 50% of the market share of Android devices last year, and it seems like it's aiming to get higher than that by being more active in making new chips in 2022.

The Dimensity 1050 is based on a 6nm process made by TSMC. It has eight processing cores, and two of them are high-performance Cortex-A78 with a peak frequency of 2.5 GHz and six Cortex-A55. Meanwhile, the Mali-G610 MC3 video accelerator is responsible for graphics performance, and the Imagiq 760 ISP image processor takes care of photography.

Furthermore, the chip also offers MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technology, enabling lower latency connections with a new tri-band Wi-Fi module of 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz. Other features include support for ultra-fast FullHD+ displays with a refresh rate of 144Hz, dual HDR video capture engine, noise reduction for quality photos in low light, Wi-Fi 6E, LPDDR5 RAM and permanent UFS 3.1, 108MP camera.

On the other hand, the Dimensity 930 is also a 6nm chip, offering a similar 2+6 architecture. However, the peak frequency of the Cortex-A78 cores is 2.2 GHz, and it uses the IMG BXM-8-256 for graphic handling instead. The chip supports LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM, built-in UFS 3.1 storage, displays with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 108MP camera, Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 5. It also comes with the HyperEngine 3.0 Lite gaming technology.

According to the report, smartphones packing the Dimensity 930 will be available in the second quarter of 2022, and the models based on Dimensity 1050 will get launched in the third quarter.
