MediaTek has launched a new Kompanio 1300T chipset today. The Kompanio 1300T is specifically made for larger computing devices such as tablets and Chromebooks. The chip manufacturer also claims that the new chipset will provide powerful performance and a high-quality multimedia experience alongside 5G functions.

The Kompanio 1300T is based on a 6nm process. It has an octa-core CPU configuration composed of ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores and ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The chip also integrates an ARM Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. Besides that, it comes with MediaTek’s AI processing unit (APU) as well to support various AI functions, including AI voice assistant and ultra-low-power voice wake-up (VoW).

For display, the chip is capable of powering a 2.5K (2560 x 1440) resolution screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. There's also no problem with supporting two external displays with Full HD resolution and HDR10+ playback. Camera-wise, it can cope with multi-cameras with up to 108MP sensors. Features such as 4K 60fps video encoding and decoding, interlaced 4K HDR video recording, multi-depth smart focus, and AI -Clear Streaming are also on the list. Furthermore, MediaTek’s HyperEngine 3.0 is also integrated for a better gaming experience.

Earlier, there was a rumour saying that HONOR's upcoming premium tablet V7 Pro would be using this chip. However, MediaTek later reveals that it is not true. Despite that, the source mentions that there's still a possibility for the HONOR Tablet V7 Pro to become the first device to be powered by the Kompanio 1300T chipset.
