MediaTek's Dimensity has been quite popular for the past two years, as more and more phones of all ranges are using different kinds of chipsets. Today, the company is proud to present the latest Dimensity 9000 chipset.

Built on a 4nm process from TSMC, the Dimensity 9000 features a new Armv9 architecture with 8-cores. The main core is a single Cortex-X2 clocking in at 3.05GHz, followed by three Cortex-A719 cores at 2.85GHz and the last four Cortex-A510 clocking at 1.8GHz. On the GPU side, it's using an Arm Mali-G710 MC10 alongside an APU of 4 performance cores and 2 flexible cores.

As a flagship tier chipset, it is said to be able to capture a 320MP image thanks to the new 18-bit Imagiq Gen 7 ISP technology. Of course, there are no smartphones that have a 320MP sensor (yet), but the Dimensity 9000 can support a device with a 32MP triple rear camera set. MediaTek also said it's the world's first chipset that can play an 8K AV1 video playback, as well as up to a 180Hz refresh rate in FHD+.

In the internet connectivity corner, the Dimensity 9000 also has a 5G modem in compliance with 3GPP Release 16. However, it doesn't have a mmWave but rather relies on a built-in sub-6Ghz 5G. Also, another world's first for the Dimensity 9000 be the first chipset to support Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E.

It will be interesting to see how the Dimensity 9000 can fare up against the upcoming Snapdragon 898 chipset by Qualcomm. MediaTek's rival will soon have a conference on 30 November 2021 so we shall wait and see. We expect to see some future Android flagship phones to equip the Dimensity 9000 by 2022.
