For 2026, MediaTek has expanded its Dimensity lineup with the introduction of two new mobile platforms, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500. Aimed at flagship and premium smartphones, the new chipsets focus on boosting performance, power efficiency, AI computing, imaging, gaming, and wireless connectivity.

The Dimensity 9500s Flagship Chipset

The Dimensity 9500s is built on a cutting-edge 3 nm manufacturing process and uses an All Big Core CPU architecture designed to deliver high performance while maintaining strong energy efficiency. Its octa-core CPU configuration includes a Cortex X925 ultra core clocked up to 3.73 GHz, supported by three Cortex X4 premium cores and four Cortex A720 performance cores.

Graphics duties on the Dimensity 9500s are handled by the Immortalis G925 GPU, which targets immersive and full-frame gameplay for high-end mobile titles. Support for advanced ray tracing enhances visual realism, while MediaTek Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 and Frame Rate Control 3.0 work together to improve power efficiency during gaming. MediaTek said these technologies are designed to reduce energy consumption and extend battery life without compromising performance.

Moreover, a flagship grade NPU sits at the core of the Dimensity 9500s' AI capabilities. It is optimised for generative reasoning and multi-modal models, enabling features such as live photo post-processing, AI-powered image editing, and intelligent content summarisation for calls, meetings, and files. This allows smartphone makers to integrate advanced on-device AI experiences without relying heavily on cloud processing.

The Dimensity 9500s integrates MediaTek’s Imagiq image processor, supporting real-time 30fps motion tracking and 8K full focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording. Enhanced snapshot performance and noise reduction aim to deliver clear and vivid results in both photo and video capture. On the connectivity side, the chipset features a 5G Release 17 modem with support for four carrier aggregation and peak downlink speeds of up to 7 Gbps.

Additional technologies include MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0 for power efficiency, AI Network Suite 2.0 for improved performance in weak signal environments, Xtra Range 3.0 for extended indoor Wi Fi coverage, and long-range Bluetooth direct connections of up to five kilometres.

Positioned slightly below the flagship tier, the Dimensity 8500 is designed to deliver strong performance for premium smartphones with a focus on gaming and multitasking. It is built on a power-efficient 4 nm process and features an All Big Core CPU design consisting of eight Cortex A725 cores running at up to 3.4 GHz. Combined with accurate scheduling technology and support for LPDDR5X memory at speeds of up to 9600 Mbps, the platform aims to balance responsiveness with long battery life.

The Dimensity 8500 integrates a Mali G720 GPU that delivers a notable uplift in graphics performance compared with the previous generation while also reducing power consumption. MediaTek says the platform improves peak GPU performance by 25% while cutting power usage by 20%. With an upgraded computing core and gaming engine, the chipset supports stable frame rates, faster loading times, and ray tracing in mainstream mobile games to enhance visual quality and immersion.

AI also plays a central role in the Dimensity 8500. Its eighth-generation NPU supports mainstream large language models and image generation models, enabling advanced on-device AI experiences. Imaging enhancements include an AI ultra-clear telephoto algorithm and a Dimensity AI semantic engine that intelligently optimises image content across frames, improving clarity and consistency in photos and videos.
