Based on a report by digitimes.com, it seems that MediaTek was the biggest chipset provider for smartphones in the year 2020 as they’ve supplied around 351.6 million chips in the year alone. Compared to the previous year, MediaTek supplied 27.2% more chipsets effectively overtaking Qualcomm.
To go into detail, Xiaomi who is one of MediaTek’s largest customers, produced 63.7 million smartphones last year. Their second largest customer, OPPO, imported around 55.3 million units in the same year.
