Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof has announced that the Melaka State Government is targeting to have 350 electric vehicle (EV) charging bays in the state by 2025. This target is in line with the planning guidelines set up by the Town and Country Planning Department (PLANMalaysia).

According to Bernama, Ab Rauf said that currently, 118 direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) EV charging bays have been installed in Melaka at 40 locations. He added that the State Government welcomes such initiatives and will adopt the planning guidelines in the state.

The Melaka Chief Minister also wants the Melaka Green Technology Corporation (PTHM) to act promptly to ensure its role and function as the main driver of green technology development in the state. He added that as a tourist destination attracting visitors from both within and outside the country, including Singapore, the higher number of EV charging bays would also facilitate EV users when visiting Melaka.
