Today, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled two new locally assembled SUVs aimed at different buyers. The spotlight is on the GLE 400 e 4MATIC with EQ Hybrid Technology, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid GLE for Malaysia, alongside the GLC 200 4MATIC, a new entry variant of its best-selling SUV line. Both models are assembled at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Pekan production facility.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 e 4MATIC Specs
The new GLE 400 e 4MATIC introduces plug-in hybrid technology to the GLE range in Malaysia. Under the hood, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine works alongside a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, delivering a combined system output of 280 kW (381 hp) and 650 Nm of torque. Power is sent through the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission to Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
Despite its size and luxury focus, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h. What sets it apart, however, is efficiency: the plug-in hybrid system delivers up to 114 km of electric-only driving range (WLTP), allowing most daily commutes to be completed without using the combustion engine. Mercedes-Benz has tuned the hybrid drive system to intelligently prioritise electric driving, especially in urban environments. Notably, the GLE 400 e can now also operate in all-electric mode during off-road driving, thanks to a dedicated Off-Road programme. Charging is handled via an onboard 11 kW AC charger, supporting home charging and wallbox setups.

Ride comfort is anchored by the AIRMATIC Package, which adapts suspension settings automatically based on speed, driving conditions, and load. Additionally, advanced driving technologies come standard through the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and Active Lane Keeping Assist. Parking and manoeuvring are aided by a 360-degree camera system, Active Parking Assist, and a transparent bonnet function that provides a virtual view of terrain when driving off-road.
The Interior of the GLE 400 e
Inside, the GLE 400 e features an AMG Line interior with sports-oriented design cues and premium materials throughout. The cabin is dominated by dual 12.3-inch displays powered by the second-generation MBUX infotainment system, offering touchscreen control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and augmented-reality navigation.

Comfort features include THERMOTRONIC climate control, electrically adjustable rear seats, wireless phone charging, multiple USB-C ports, 64-colour ambient lighting, and KEYLESS-GO with hands-free tailgate access. Audio is handled by a Burmester 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos support, delivering 590 watts of immersive sound through 13 speakers.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4MATIC Specs
Alongside the electrified GLE, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced the GLC 200 4MATIC, expanding the GLC lineup with a more accessible variant while retaining the SUV’s premium appeal. The exterior adopts AMG Line styling, featuring a sportier front apron, chrome detailing, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, aluminium roof rails, and distinctive rear light clusters with a three-dimensional design. LED High Performance headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist ensure visibility and safety across changing conditions.

Powering the GLC 200 4MATIC is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The setup produces 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque, supported by an integrated starter-generator that improves responsiveness and efficiency. Also, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds, while the top speed stands at 221 km/h. Ride quality is managed by the AGILITY CONTROL suspension, which adjusts damping automatically to balance comfort and handling across varying road surfaces.
GLC 200's Interior Features
On the other hand, the GLC 200 4MATIC showcases a modern AMG Line interior with ARTICO man-made leather upholstery, premium trim finishes, and a driver-focused layout. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster sits alongside an 11.9-inch central touchscreen, both angled towards the driver for intuitive operation. The MBUX system includes Navigation Premium and Augmented Reality Navigation, while convenience features such as KEYLESS-GO, hands-free tailgate access, wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports, and electrically folding rear seats enhance daily usability.

Cabin comfort is further improved with acoustic glass, ambient lighting, and rear sunblinds. Finally, safety systems include Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and the PRE-SAFE system, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz’s emphasis on proactive safety.
