Today, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has announced a strategic partnership with DC Handal, a local expert in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and energy solutions, to launch a new EV charging hub at Bamboo Hills. This milestone project underscores the brand’s commitment to accelerating Malaysia’s electric mobility transition and expanding its nationwide charging network.

Expanding the Mercedes-Benz Charging Network

Developed in collaboration with Hap Seng Star, one of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s key retail partners, the Bamboo Hills charging hub is part of the brand’s plan to bring premium charging access to high-traffic lifestyle destinations. By strategically positioning these hubs in popular urban areas, Mercedes-Benz aims to make charging more accessible, convenient, and integrated into customers’ daily lives.

The Bamboo Hills site joins existing partnerships with leading operators, including JomCharge, ChargeEV, Gentari, and P.UP, becoming the sixth Mercedes-Benz-branded charging location in Malaysia under this growing network.

A Step Towards Sustainable Luxury

“With Bamboo Hills, we are accelerating the charge, bringing our electric vehicle owners closer to an era where performance, innovation, and sustainability converge,” said Amanda Zhang, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

“This collaboration with DC Handal and Hap Seng Star reflects our strategic commitment to enhancing the Mercedes-Benz EV ecosystem in Malaysia, ensuring that every vehicle is supported by a robust and intelligent charging infrastructure. It also aligns with our global Ambition 2039 strategy for sustainable mobility.”

This launch reflects Mercedes-Benz’s ongoing multi-channel charging strategy, designed to support EV owners whether they charge at home, at retail outlets, or at lifestyle destinations. The Bamboo Hills hub complements a broader ecosystem that integrates charging into every aspect of the Mercedes-Benz ownership experience.

DC Handal’s Role in Strengthening Malaysia’s EV Ecosystem

Zamri bin Mahmud, Director of DC Handal, emphasised the company’s focus on reliability and innovation:

“Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia represents a major step forward in delivering high-performance, dependable charging infrastructure that meets the expectations of premium EV drivers. By merging DC Handal’s technical expertise with Mercedes-Benz’s vision for sustainable luxury, we’re ensuring that EV charging is not only fast and reliable but also seamlessly embedded in places where people live, work, and play.”

Elevating Every Journey Through Intelligent Infrastructure

Edmin Naidoo, Vice President of Customer Services for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia & SEA II, noted that the partnership is about more than just expanding infrastructure:

“This next phase of our charging strategy is about creating meaningful touchpoints that elevate every journey. Through our collaboration with DC Handal and Hap Seng Star, we’re strengthening Malaysia’s EV ecosystem while delivering an ownership experience that goes beyond the road.”

Looking Ahead: A Nationwide Expansion

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia plans to roll out additional charging locations nationwide by the end of 2025, continuing its mission to build a seamless, intelligent EV network. With eleven battery electric vehicles (BEVs) already available in Malaysia — including the new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology — the company is giving drivers greater flexibility and freedom to embrace electrified mobility without compromising on luxury or convenience.
