The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has recently launched RakanMET, a user-friendly app that allows you to report any extreme weather phenomenons in your area to the department. Furthermore, the app is community-service oriented and functions through smart partnership between MetMalaysia and the public.

Taking to its official Twitter page, MetMalaysia further elaborated that the RakanMET app serves as a two-way communication medium between the public and MetMalaysia. With it, the department can obtain quick information on verified and accurate weather conditions throughout the country.

Moreover, it will also be a platform for MetMalaysia to convey legitimate weather-related information to Malaysians. According to a report by national news agency Bernama, the app will use user’s phones GPS capabilities to verify the location of each report received by the department.

Furthermore, the RakanMET app also provides users with up to date weather forecasts. In fact, the forecast is available within 30 minutes for a period of up to 3 hours.
