Instagram was launched for iOS in 2010 before finally arriving on Android in 2012. But until now, a dedicated app for the iPad has not yet existed, even though the tablet has also been around since 2010. According to a report by The Verge, the 15-year wait for an iPad app may be over, with one now in development.
For your information, Adam Mosseri previously said that a lack of user demand meant that the need to develop an iPad app was not given priority. This is a bit strange because Instagram for Android foldable devices has been available since 2023. Theoretically, the same interface could be reused on the iPad.
Unfortunately, there is still no further confirmation on the news. There has been a rumour about a WhatsApp app for iPad since 2017, but until now, it has not become a reality.
