Meta introduces a Telegram-like "broadcast channels" feature on Instagram

Meta has announced a new feature on Instagram that should be familiar to Telegram users. Essentially Meta’s take on Telegram channels, Instagram users can expect to see a “broadcast channels” feature on the mobile app soon. 

Introduced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg through one of the new Instagram broadcast channels called “Meta Channel”, the feature allows creators to broadcast messages and updates to followers who opt-in to follow their channel.

Zuckerberg revealed that users can expect broadcast channels to support collaborations with guest appearances, AMAs and more in the future. Currently, users will not be able to post in the channels but can interact by leaving emoji reactions to posts and voting in polls. 

Furthermore, Zuckerberg also clarified that broadcast channels will be expanded to Messenger and Facebook “in the coming months”.
