Meta is using AI to detect teenagers who lied about their real age on the platform

Social media is getting more interesting. At Meta, they are trying to combat the issue of underage users lying about their real age using artificial intelligence (AI). So, what should you know about it?

For your information, this AI-powered feature has been tested previously on a small scale but is now finally being activated to ensure the safety of teenage users. Based on usage habits and uploaded content, Meta can guess whether a user is a teenager or an adult.

Additionally, if age fraud is detected, the account will automatically be changed to a Meta Teen Account, which limits interaction with strangers, contact by adults and is not allowed to do live streaming. Meta says this feature was enabled because it recognises that not all parents and guardians monitor the social media activity of children in their care. Because AI is used, mistakes can occur. If an adult user's account is labelled as a minor, the user can request to have it changed.
