Instagram has launched a new video editing app called Edits designed specifically for content creators. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the launch comes amid uncertainty over TikTok, including the temporary ban of the CapCut app in the United States. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, Edits, which will launch in March 2025, offers a high-resolution camera up to 2K at 60 fps along with advanced editing tools such as green screen, overlays and artificial intelligence (AI)-based effects. The app does not place watermarks on videos, making it an ideal choice for sharing across multiple platforms.

In addition, Edits integrates with Instagram to provide real-time analytics data such as engagement rates and viewer preferences. It also supports automatic captioning, audio enhancement, and video draft collaboration to facilitate teamwork.
The launch is part of Instagram's strategy to attract content creators looking for alternatives, especially as TikTok faces regulatory issues. Edits also complement the Reels feature, which now supports videos up to three minutes long. The app is now available for pre-order on the App Store, with an Android version to follow.
