Meta will end the Messenger app for PC and Mac on 15 December 2025

Meta announced that the Messenger app for Windows and macOS will be discontinued on December 15, 2025. That said, what should you know about it?

 

You need to uninstall and delete it after 15 December 2025

After that date, you will no longer be able to access the application and are advised to delete it from your computer. In fact, this application has also been removed from the Apple App Store and Microsoft Store. So, this means you can only use the Messenger messaging platform via a web browser.

Although most messages are stored in the Facebook account, users are advised to ensure that the " secure storage " function is activated via the Messenger application settings on your PC or Mac - Privacy & Safety > End-to-end encrypted chats > Message storage.

Meta did not provide an official reason for this termination, but it is most likely due to low usage, as the WhatsApp application is still being maintained.
