Yesterday, Microsoft launched the AI for Malaysia's Future (AIForMYFuture) initiative, which aims to equip 800,000 Malaysians with artificial intelligence (AI) skills by the end of 2025. AIForMYFuture will work with the National AI Office (NAIO) under the Ministry of Digital to drive the national AI agenda through an integrated approach.
The initiative is aimed at diverse groups in Malaysia. Civil servants, industry professionals, students, teachers, and those from underserved communities will be provided with tailored learning opportunities. AIForMYFuture's five key strategies are:
- Collaboration to drive AI fluency in all segments of Malaysian society
- Use of AI industries involving the public and private sectors, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
- Talent development through education for students in schools, higher institutions and TVET institutions
- Develop an inclusive AI economy with a focus on underserved communities and women entrepreneurs
- Empowering the workforce with plans like AI Skills Navigator to guide Malaysians in learning AI skills
This initiative also involves collaborations with organisations such as HRD Corp, MyDIGITAL Corporation, TalentCorp and Biji-Biji Initiative. Microsoft has also introduced programmes such as AI TEACH Malaysia, which will equip TVET educators with AI skills. There's also the Ready4AI&Security program, designed to support women in the AI and cybersecurity fields.
Through AIForMYFuture, Microsoft aims to strengthen its commitment to making Malaysia the leading AI economy in the region, in line with the National AI Roadmap 2021-2025.
