Microsoft yesterday announced the release of the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 which offers a few upgrades over its predecessor. The most notable upgrade has got to be the better and more efficient 11th-gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor under the hood.

Just like the original Surface Laptop Go, the device still retains a 12.4-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 1536 x 1024 pixels. Moreover, it has the same 3:2 aspect ratio and maximum brightness of 330 nits, with a 720p webcam located at its top bezel.

However, unlike its predecessor, the Surface Laptop Go 2 has no 64GB storage option, with the basic variant having a 128GB SSD instead. Users can opt for the 256GB variant if they require more storage. There’s also no dedicated GPU, with the device only featuring Intel Iris XE Graphics.

In terms of memory, users can only choose either to get a 4 or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Other differences from the original Surface Laptop Go is the ‘sage’ colour option which is a new edition alongside the Ice Blue, Sandstone and Platinum colours.

For now, the device will only be available for pre-order starting 6 June 2022 in Australia and starting 7 June 2022 in the United States and United Kingdom. Here are the retail prices for the device:

  • 4GB RAM/128GB SSD storage - USD599 or ~RM2631
  • 8GB/128GB SSD storage - USD699 or ~RM3071
  • 8GB/256GB SSD storage - USD799 or ~RM3510

Microsoft has yet to announce when the Surface Laptop Go 2 will be made available in the global market, including in Malaysia. However, based on previous releases, the laptop will most likely to come to our shores soon.
