In October, Microsoft launch a new version of Windows for the first time in years. Windows 11 is far from perfect and we expect things like performance issues and bugs to keep appearing. But Microsoft is ready to push for a wider adoption via new Surface laptops.

Yesterday, the company officially unveiled its Microsoft Surface Laptop SE. This is a laptop intended for school kids and it comes with the new Windows 11 SE (more on that in a bit). The laptop features an 11.6-inch display (1366x768), a 720p webcam, and stereo speakers - everything you need for an online class. It also has accessibility tools for kids that may have vision, hearing, or speech problems.

For hardware, the Surface Laptop SE comes in two variants. The first one packs an Intel Celeron N4010 inside, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Another variant comes with the Intel Celeron 4120 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Both have an estimated battery life of around 16 hours, which should comfortably last for an entire day.

Now let's talk about Windows 11 SE. This can be considered a cut-down version of Windows 11 with features and apps that are tailored for educational purposes. It's also cloud-first with all the Microsoft Office apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel available. IT admins can also have easier device deployment.

In terms of price, the Microsoft Surface Laptop SE will retail from USD250 (~RM1038). But it's currently unknown if this model will be available in Malaysia. Would you get one for your kid if it does? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
