We've been hearing rumours about the Intel Haswell refresh of Microsoft's Surface tablet range for months, so it comes as no surprise when Microsoft officially announced the new Surface Pro 2 tablet. While the new version packs in a better 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor it also adds in tech specs and features which include 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options, 4GB to 8GB of RAM and a 10.6-inch full HD ClearType HD display. The new Intel Haswell chips increase battery life by up to 75% and the Surface Pro 2 adds on new cover options such as the Power Cover which includes a 30wh battery to help extend battery life even further.

Other new accessories include the Surface Docking station which can power two monitors and offers 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 3.0 port, a mini DisplayPort, Ethernet and audio in/out jacks. The Surface Pro 2 offers a microSD slot, USB 3.0 port and a mini DisplayPort. Apart from the energy savings, the Surface Pro 2 chips can now process 6K video footage. The standard Type cover has been revamped to the Type Cover 2 which is thinner, has more colours and is backlit. Malaysia pricing for the Surface Pro 2 should start from $899 (RM2820) and come bundled with 200GB worth of SkyDrive cloud storage for two years along with a year's worth of international Skype calls. Malaysia release dates are expected from 22 October 2013 but for more information, check out the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 site.
