In the West, Microsoft has announced two new Surface Copilot+ PCs - the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for 2025. Currently, these laptops have not been launched in Malaysia yet, but here's what we know about the tech specs and other details.
Starting with the Surface Laptop, it is Microsoft's thinnest and lightest Surface laptop yet, measuring at 13 inches. Compact, yet powered by AI and a Snapdragon X Plus processor, including an integrated 45 TOPS NPU. Compared to the Surface Laptop 5, it is 50% faster and has up to 23 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of active web browsing. The new Surface Laptop contains 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell and 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets.
On the other hand, the new Surface Pro continues its 2-in-1 form factor, also powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with the same 45 TOPS NPU. The Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard is available in three colours: Slate, Ocean and Violet, and it features a smooth-matte palm rest, a full-size backlit keyboard and a customisable precision touchpad with adaptive touch mode. It also contains 82.9% recycled content in the enclosure and is the first Pro to contain 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell.
In terms of prices and availability, the Surface Pro (12-inch) starts at $799 (~RM3.4K), and the Surface Laptop (13-inch) starts at $899 (~RM3.8K). They will be available in select markets starting on 20 May 2025.
