When Microsoft first announced their latest next-gen console the Xbox One, it came with a whole bunch of restrictions including having to be always online and you couldn't lend games to more than one person. Even then, lending was one big hassle just for that one friend. Xbox fans can now rejoice though as Microsoft are taking back those policies. Check out the quote below:

"An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360." Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business

Xbox One games will also be region-free and games that use discs will have to keep the disc in the tray rather than having them ripped to the console (and taking up space). However, as a result of these policy changes, some features like the family sharing up to ten family members and that new Xbox One consoles may require a patch to set up these policies before they can run for the first time.
