Microsoft recently announced that Windows 11 is authorized to run on M1 and M2 chipset powered Mac laptops. This is done through the Parallels Desktop version 18 however, they made no guarantees for games that rely on DirectX 12 or OpenGL 3.3 or greater.

Microsoft also noted that Windows features relying on nested Microsoft Hyper-V-based virtualization aren’t supported. These could include Windows Subsystem for Android or Linux, Windows Sandbox and Virtualization-based security. They also encourage users to run 64-bit Arm apps but 32-bit Arm apps can still be run in x64 or x86 emulation.

We’re sort of hopeful that this may lead to better gaming on M1 and M2 chipset powered Apple devices but these are early days yet. If you try it out, do let us know how it went for you and stay tuned to TechNave.com
