When it comes to gaming consoles, the Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation 5 are the most popular ones in Malaysia. Hardly anyone has the Microsoft Xbox X/S series consoles, no thanks to Microsoft ignoring the Malaysian market.
But could the company reconsider for its next generation of consoles? We don't know about that, but we do have an idea of when this new generation could launch. According to Axios Gaming, some documents suggest Microsoft could launch its next-gen Xbox consoles in 2028.
Microsoft has been battling it out with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for months now, as it seeks to complete its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an internal chat log, a Microsoft executive allegedly questions about "the plan for 2028". Subsequent answers from other executives reference a "gen 10" hardware that will be "flexible going forward".
All of this is vague enough and doesn't exactly mention that it's a console. But there are enough hints to suggest this discussion could be regarding a new Xbox and that the tentative launch window is sometime in 2028. Of course, we can't confirm anything yet, so take the news with a grain of salt.
Another question we need to ask is: "Will Microsoft launch this next-gen console in Malaysia?" And if they do, would you buy one? Do let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for further updates.
