It was only recently that we reported about a possible Xbox gaming handheld console. Previously, sources said Microsoft is working with a PC OEM but it was unknown. Today, new information is saying that ASUS could be the manufacturer.
Initially, the development was known as Project Keenan, but according to The Verge, it is actually Project Kennan. Additional information from the writer also revealed some ideas about the design, which may look similar to the ROG Ally lineup but with a user interface from the Xbox gaming consoles. It is likely to still run on Windows 11.
It is said that the goal of having an Xbox UI on Project Kennan is to make navigation easier on handheld. As most PC handheld console gamers know, Windows 11 does not translate well in a handheld format. With this, Microsoft is working with ASUS to simplify the UI experience and navigation. Moreover, it was reported that games could come from a single store on the device.
Project Kennan could be released this year. In terms of pricing, it was speculated to be between $499 and $599 (~RM2.2K to ~RM2.6K). If true, then it could be lower than the ROG Ally and ROG Ally X, which cost RM3,299 and RM4,299, respectively. We will have to wait and see.
