Notepad is a plain text writing application built into the Windows operating system, and is commonly used to write and edit text without the need to format the text. Recently, Windows released a new update for it. That said, what should you know about it?
For your information, through the Windows Insider program , users who want to test the latest features on the Windows 11 operating system can start testing basic formatting features through Notepad, something that was previously only shown in another Microsoft software, WordPad, which has now been discontinued.
Additionally, Microsoft has added minimal formatting functionality, and you can use a bar that allows you to add formatting such as adding headers, formatting for bold, italic and underline, adding bullet points and even links to files or websites. If you're familiar with Markdown shortcuts, you can also use them in Notepad, making text editing tasks easier. As mentioned, this version of Notepad (version 11.2504.50.0) is offered through the Windows Insider program only, via Canary and Dev Channel.
