Microsoft is working on bringing the dead back to life, or something similar to that. It is reported that the tech giant has granted a patent that uses the personal information of deceased people to build chatbots. Although we've seen such an idea happening in movies or TV series, it's still surprising knowing that it can be achieved in real life.

According to a statement from Microsoft, "the specific person (who the chatbot represents) may correspond to a past or present entity such as a friend, a relative, an acquaintance, a celebrity, a fictional character, a historical figure, a random entity, etc". It is also stated that "the specific person may also correspond to oneself", which means that the users are able to create and train the chatbot as a digital replacement in the event of their death.

Furthermore, Microsoft is also working on including the notion of 2D or 3D models of specific people being generated via images and depth information, or video data. If it worked out successfully, it could be a breakthrough technology by letting users chat with dead loved ones.
