Microsoft has officially announced the end of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 today. As of 10 January 2023, Microsoft will stop supplying security updates for these older operating systems.

According to Microsoft (via TechRadar), many Microsoft Windows users have yet to upgrade to Windows 11, much less Windows 10. However, as such, they do recommend that users should update to newer versions or risk cyberattacks exploiting security flaws and vulnerabilities which are no longer being updated.

To be honest, we’re not surprised as we’ve seen some bank ATMs here in Malaysia still running Windows XP. In addition, for some of us, Windows 11 has been impossible to install at all due to certain hardware requirements prompting some users to migrate to other operating systems like Linux or ChromeOS Flex.

Are you still using Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? Would you consider updating to Windows 10 or Windows 11 or are you just going to buy a new computer? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com.
