Microsoft says that Chrome drains battery, and Edge saves it

While the Google browser Chrome is popular all over the world, it is resource hungry. It eats memory and battery like a hungry baby, and while Google has promised that they will try and fix this, no big difference is seen as of yet. Microsoft is drilling down the point further with the battery test that they did, comparing major web browsers of today.

The company did two tests – one test involves setting up four identical Microsoft Surface Book, with each running different browsers playing back HD videos, while the other involves the same four browsers running simulated test of typical user behaviours while online. The first test showed that while Google Chrome lasted for only 4 hours and 19 minutes on a single charge playing back HD video, Microsoft Edge lasted almost 70% longer, at 7 hours and 22 minutes.

For daily use, Microsoft Edge was the clear winner as it used less battery power – up to 50% less actually. Microsoft also shared aggregated data from millions of Windows 10 users out there, and the results doesn't lie – Microsoft Edge gives better battery performance when compared to Google Chrome.
