Ah..the Internet Explorer. At this point, it has already become a meme of its own but it will be something that we remember well. Today, Microsoft just announced that the web platform will be retired and replaced by Microsoft Edge which has been well received.

Scheduled to be retired on 15 June 2022 for certain versions of Windows 10, the Internet Explorer 11 will be a built-in mode on Microsoft Edge. This means that Edge users can use it to access Internet Explorer-based websites and applications. There is also a note that says the change will not affect in-market Windows 10 LTSC or Serve Internet Explorer 11 desktop applications and MSHTML (Trident) engine.

Moreover, Microsoft stated that the change is necessary and beneficial for users who still want to use Internet Explorer-based websites. With this in mind, Edge will be the only web platform with built-in compatibility for older sites including those supporting ActiveX controls. You may be surprised, but there is a large number of enterprises still relying on Internet Explorer for work.
