Xbox's PC Game Pass has been in Malaysia for two years now. It's currently priced at RM15 per month but looks like the price will be increasing. According to the official document by Microsoft, the company will raise the monthly subscription prices in all markets starting on 12 September 2024.

In Malaysia, the monthly subscription will increase to RM20 per month. RM5 doesn't seem like that but that's until you take account of the yearly payment. Initially, you only need to pay RM180 per year but it will turn into RM240 in the future. That's a RM60 difference and quite a steep cut for our wallets considering the weak economy in Malaysia.

This move to raise the monthly subscription fee is due to the recent major business overhaul in Microsoft this year, which resulted in many closures of developer studios and staff layoffs. Moreover, raising the fee will boost the revenue further as Game Pass for Xbox and PC isn't growing as much as it should.

Despite that, gamers can still play upcoming new games on Day 1. This includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 which is launching on 24 October 2024 and many other games on the platform. Bethesda and EA games are also included on the PC Game Pass.
