Are you using an old phone and are reliant on WhatsApp? Then as much as you would want to avoid it, it's time to get a new phone. Sources have confirmed that WhatsApp will stop working for older devices beginning 1 January 2021, so you'll need a new phone just for the app to work.

According to the Daily Mail, those who are using an iPhone 4 or earlier, as well as Android devices running Android 4.0.3 or before, will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. Specifically, iPhones need to run at least iOS 10, while Android devices should preferably run on Android 5.0 to avoid losing access to the messaging app. If you're using a device like that, do remember to back up your chat history so you can retrieve them later. That way, at least you can retrieve them on your new phone later.
