Recently, our Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa has stated that Melaka will have a priority for 5G services. According to the news, this is because Melaka is positioned as a tourism state with many foreign investors so 5G should start there first.

On top of that, he also said before the 5G service launches, Melaka will have to be equipped with enhanced 4G services first via the Fibre Optic Point of Presence (PoP) program. This is in line with the National Digital Network (JENDELA) program where 35 more towers will be added to improve the service.

With the PoP program, Annuar said it should provide a better experience for the consumers in Melaka including schools and various industries. Moreover, he asked for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and telecommunications companies (telcos) to install 'boosters' in many locations as a short-term solution.

At the moment, 5G connectivity won't be going online so soon as the government said they are still in discussion with the local telcos. We may or may not see by the end of the year but who knows. Until then stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
