MoT could reconsider motorcycle e-hailing services

The Ministry of Transport is open to the re-evaluation of motorcycle e-hailing services. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the matter had been discussed before, but it was not well received. So, what should you know about it?

However, he is open and welcomes applications from operators who want to do a Proof of Concept (POC). According to Loke, he said:

“But I want to share my view first. The Malaysian culture does not really like using motorcycle e-hailing. I may be wrong, I may be wrong, but if there is evidence that this POC is successful, I am open to this view and we hope it can lighten the burden for the first mile and last mile .”

He explained that if there is an application, his side will discuss it with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to give approval in principle for the POC. The minister also said:

“We have to have a POC for everything. Without POC, it will be difficult for us to approve.”

We have yet to confirm other details on the news. Hopefully, everything will be resolved soon. It will also be interesting to see how Malaysians will react to this news.
