In the last few years, the mobile gaming market has grown increasingly bigger. But if how big the industry is hasn't sunk in yet, you just need to look at the latest market report. Newzoo recently published a new paper with some statistics for 2021.
According to Newzoo, the global mobile gaming market earned a total of US93.2 billion (~RM389 billion) in 2021. That's more than the revenue of the PC and console markets combined and a 7.3% year-on-year increase. In terms of market share, the Asia Pacific region had the lion's share at 64%. This region includes China and Japan, which are among the top 3 markets in 2021 with total revenue of USD45.5 billion (~RM190 billion).
The analytics company also believes that the mobile gaming market's revenue would grow to USD116.1 billion (~RM485 billion) by 2024. With how fast mobile gaming is growing, businesses like TikTok believe that mobile devices would become the "new frontier game publishers and advertisers". These will probably be the biggest contributors to the growth of the industry. There are also the metaverse trends that will see games becoming a new social experience.
