Instagram’s Community Guidelines can be overreacting to certain contents sometimes and innocent people’s accounts would get deleted in the blink of an eye. This has caused a hot debate whether the guidelines truly know what is appropriate to be posted and what is not. Many have been careful while sharing content on the platform as well. However, it was reported that more than 1300 porn star's accounts have been deleted despite not showing nudity.

Alana Evans, president of Adult Performers Actors Guild has voiced out on the issue and demanded Instagram to stop discriminating porn stars by deleting their accounts. She has also stated that removing adult performers and sex workers from social media such as Instagram is equivalent to marginalizing the small groups in the reality.

Also, it is said that removing their accounts is like taking their jobs away from them as adult performers.  That is because production houses often consider the size of a performer's Instagram followers when casting for new scenes. Moreover, an adult performer will lose access to business connections they have worked hard to build as well if their accounts get deleted.

As time goes by, adult performers are getting more opportunities to work independently through webcam sites, subscription services and custom video platforms. Being on social media is the primary way for them to get recognition to earn money for a living. Therefore, deleting their accounts can be deemed as cruel as if it’s like losing their jobs without violating anything (posting nudity content).

The issue has led to a meeting with Instagram representative to work on establishing a new appeal system for removed accounts. However, accounts of adult performers are still getting deleted. The adult performers have also claimed that famous celebrities are allowed to be much more explicit on their accounts than porn stars or sex workers, without getting their accounts deleted (oops!). It seems like the guidelines are having double standards by exempting the accounts which have blue ticks and millions of followers.
