While we've already seen the Motorola Moto E and all it's tech specs, Motorola have finally done the official announcement for the company's answer to new entry-level smartphones. Featuring the same rounded look with many differently coloured plastic shells, the Motorola Moto E is a 4.3-inch display smartphone with a dual-core processor and other above average tech specs at a fairly reasonable price of $129 (RM416). The most important feature remains the fact that it is running on Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box and will likely get updates faster than normal. While there is still no specific Malaysia release date or localized pricing, it is expected to arrive in the next few weeks. Confirming some of the tech specs we covered earlier, the Motorola Moto E comes packing with the following tech specs:

  • 1.2GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4GB of internal memory + up to 32GB microSD
  • 4.3-inch display (480 x 854 pixel resolution)
  • 5MP rear camera (no led flash)
  • 124.8 x 64.8 x 12.3 mm |140 grams
  • Supports 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, FM-radio, Dual-SIM
  • 1980 mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat

Motorola hopes to influence feature phone buyers with the Moto E, even offering a campaign to switch from feature phones to the Moto E. While we definitely congratulate Motorola for cutting the price, here in Malaysia there are many more smartphones with better tech specs at below RM400 prices (the RM299 ASUS ZenFone 4 comes to mind). Simply adding on a bit less than RM100 will get you the midrange-class Huawei Honor 3C, so kudos to Motorola, but this is probably a bit underpowered for it's price for smartphone buyers here. The always on feature, water resistant splash guard, build quality and latest Android update guarantee should be tempting for some though, so do check out the video below:
