Motorola Razr 40 series release: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, Dolby Atmos support, and more from ~RM2594

As announced previously, the Motorola Razr 40 series was officially launched in China yesterday. There are two new foldable devices in this series - the Motorola Razr 40 and Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. Let's see what they have to offer.

 

Motorola Razr 40

The more modest of the two is the Moto Razr 40, which sports the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset under the hood. It also has 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4200mAh battery. When unfolded, you can see the sizable 6.9-inch main AMOLED screen and a 1.5-inch AMOLED external display. As for cameras, it has a dual 64MP+13MP setup at the back and a 32MP front camera.

Besides that, the phone will combine Gorilla Glass and vegan leather for a premium look. Lenovo has also claimed that the folding hinge can withstand 400k folds. For features, the Moto Razr 40 has Snapdragon Sound and Dolby Atmos for audio, optical image stabilisation for the main camera, and more. Finally, the device comes in three memory configs as listed below:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage - 3999 yuan ~RM2594
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage - 4299 yuan ~RM2789
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage - 4699 yuan ~RM3048

Motorola Razr 40 Ultra

The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra features a more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. While the main AMOLED display is also 6.9-inch in size, the external display is a fairly large 3.6-inch pOLED display. Both screens will support refresh rates of up to 144Hz. For cameras, it has a 12MP+13MP combo at the back and the same 32MP camera at the front.

In terms of features, the Moto Razr 40 Ultra will have a dedicated Spotify panel for the external display. You can also utilise the external display for status updates (in text) and wallpapers or to frame your pictures and videos. It also shares the features of the Moto Razr 40. Anyway, prices for the Ultra variant are as below:

  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage - 4299 yuan ~RM3697
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage - 4699 yuan ~RM4151

Besides China, the Motorola Razr 40 series will launch in North America on 23 June 2023. It'll also be available for selected markets in Asia, South America, and Europe in subsequent weeks. Of course, that's not a guarantee that we will get the new Moto phones in Malaysia.
