As reported before, the My50 monthly pass will be available on the Touch 'n Go eWallet app. According to our Minister of Transport Anthony Loke, users can start using it next year but no specific timeline has been laid out.

Additionally, Loke also said new payment methods will be introduced. Stakeholders are planning to include the Touch 'n Go card as one of the payment options, as well as smartphone access such as QR codes to "revolutionise the digital system of the country's public transport". These are just the details that the government is working on.

Loke told the reporters that the change is being made because many Malaysians feel that using the MyKad is inconvenient when compared to the My50 initiative. They also don't like using it for scanning, as they fear that they may misplace the MyKad after using it.

For the uninitiated, the My50 pass offers users RM50 per month for unlimited travel on rail and bus services operated by Prasana. According to sources, there are already 220,000 monthly My50 users which has doubled from 98,000 in 2019.
